The area around Portnellan estate is steeped in history and full of dramatic scenery. Two miles west of Portnellan lies the village of Crianlarich. This spectacular train line was voted the most scenic railway in the world. At the head of the loch is Lochearnhead and as you drive along the northern shore you can take in the stunning scenery, stopping at the various view points. Towards the end of the loch is the pretty village of St Fillans with its sailing school and water sports centre.Beyond St Fillans the A85 takes you on to Comrie, Crieff and then on to the city of Perth which stands on the mighty River Tay.
