With a wealth of beautiful scenery this area of the Northern Highlands is also rich in wildlife, including deer, golden eagles, black and red grouse, pine martens and red kites. It is a wonderful area for the outdoors sportsman, climber and walker alike. Plenty of both salmon and trout fishing, some of the country's finest shooting as well as top class roe and hill red deer stalking is available and can be arranged on surrounding estates. Grouse, duck and pheasant shooting is also on offer on local estates. There are a dozen golf courses within easy reach including Royal Dornoch, as well as farm parks and seal viewing trips available. In the winter the ski area of the Cairngorms is accessible at Aviemore just a short drive to the south.
