Kilrie Granary is in a perfect location for accessing central Scotland and Edinburgh, which is only a 35 minute train ride away. The cottage is just a mile from the East Fife Coastal Path and close to many historical attractions and some of the best golf courses in the world.
Kirkcaldy is one of the largest towns in the Kingdom of Fife. It lies on a shallow bay on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth and is the largest settlement between the cities of Dundee and Edinburgh. Kilrie Granary Cottage is located 2 miles west of Kirkcaldy in a beautiful rural location surrounded by farmland. This is a quiet and peaceful place to stay. There is a conservation heathland forest, a waterfall which used to power the old watermill and a doocot.
There are endless activities and places of interest in this corner of Fife including golf courses, beaches, historic monuments, art galleries, castles and gardens all within easy reach. There is a regular train service 2 miles away and thus it is very easy to get in and out of Edinburgh (35 minutes). This makes the Granary a serious option for accommodation for the Edinburgh Festival.
The Fife Coastal Path which is a mile away from the cottage runs from the Forth Estuary in the south, to the Tay Estuary in the north and stretches for 150 kms. The path is clearly waymarked and offers a range of walking experiences. Whether done in bite sized chunks or as a long distance route there is definitely something for everyone. From the cosmopolitan atmosphere of St Andrews to the former coal mining towns of central Fife; from the small fishing villages of the East Neuk to the bustling industrial areas of the west, rugged cliffs, award winning beaches, internationally important estuaries and wildlife reserves, walking or driving the Fife Coastal Path is an experience not to be missed!

Granary Cottage is a beautifully refurbished self-contained holiday home at one end of a 19th century granary. Described by one guest as: 'Spectacularly exquisite cottage, tasteful and full of class and quality'.
The cottage has a separate entrance drive, parking place and complete privacy. The accommodation incorporates a lovely, large, open plan living space (sitting room/kitchen) opening onto a terrace which leads onto a rolling lawn and pretty garden. There is a comfortable lounge area with TV and well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar and dining table.
There are two very spacious bedrooms both ensuite which have recently been refurbished to the highest standard - one with walk-in shower and one with a bath. The larger bedroom also has a trundle day bed - which could be two singles but probably most suitable for children.
There is a separate entrance drive and plenty of parking for guests and complete privacy, there is also an electric car charging point. This is a quiet and peaceful place to stay surrounded by farmland. In the grounds a large duck pond attracts various species of birdlife throughout the year and a conservation heathland forest, and waterfall which used to power the old watermill and a doocot. Dogs are welcome - we simply ask that they are not allowed in the bedrooms and are kept on a lead outside.
Directions to Granary Cottage, near Kirkcaldy:
Driving Instructions North: After crossing the Forth Road Bridge take exit no 1 signposted Inverkeithing. Follow the A921 going east until you come to a roundabout that leads onto B9157 signposted to Kirkcaldy. Travel along this road for approx 6/7 miles.
The turning to Kilrie Granary is on the left hand side of the road just after the second signpost to Auchtertool. There is a yellow grit bucket at the turn-off. Follow the grey gravel chip driveway until you come to Granary Cottage. The first door you see is the back door to Granary Cottage.
Driving Instructions South: Come south on the M90. Take exit no 1 signposted Inverkeithing. Then follow instructions as above.
By train: Edinburgh Waverley to Kirkcaldy Station
Because of the train service 3 miles away you can easily get in and out of Edinburgh (35 minutes).
