Superb views over Strachur Park and the surrounding countryside with a glimmer of Loch Fyne through the trees.
Self-catering Inverglen Farmhouse, Strachur, Argyll & Bute
Situated at the edge of the village of Strachur in an elevated position sheltered by mature woodland, Inverglen Farmhouse occupies more than half an acre of garden ground. The holiday house which is reached via a rough track offers guests peace and tranquillity whilst still being close to local amenities and within walking distance of the local shop and pub. There is a large lawned garden with patio, terrace and garden furniture and private parking for 4 cars. 50 yards from the house there is an unfenced river in the garden.
The local area is steeped in history and offers a wide range of activities and sights to see. On the shores of Loch Fyne stand 3 castles, Inverary Castle, Dunderave Castle and Old Castle Lachlan. No trip to Loch Fyne is complete without a trip to Inverary for its castle but also for its award winning visitor attraction Inverary Jail and Old Castle Lachlan is home to the Clan Maclachlan who claim descent from Lachlan Mor who lived on Loch Fyne in the 13th century.
There are many walks to enjoy through gentle woodlands or over the surrounding hills. The delightful Ardkinglas Woodland Garden on the hillside overlooking Loch Fyne and Crarae Gardens with Himalayan plants and cascading waterfalls are both 'must sees'.
Further afield, but close enough for day trips are Oban (the gateway to the Hebrides), the Trossachs, Stirling, Perth, Glencoe and Fort William.
The area is well served with restaurants renowned for fresh local produce. Inver Cottage Restaurant is situated 6 miles away on the shore of east Loch Fyne and a perfect place for coffee and cakes or a leisurely dinner. Creggans Inn is closer by and Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is 10 miles away. The world’s largest Highland Games, Cowal Gathering in Dunoon, is held in August and is well worth a visit if you are staying at that time.
