Beech Cottage Wester Lix, nr Killin

Beech holiday cottage provides extremely comfortable, self-catering accommodation at Wester Lix, near Killin, the gateway to The Scottish Highlands.

The cottage is situated in a tranquil setting located in a secluded forest clearing, yet only 2 miles from the picturesque and bustling village of Killin. It is within a 2 hour drive of the cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling so perfectly situated to explore much of Scotland. The self-catering cottage is detached, set within its own fenced garden, with spectacular views of a private lochan - very idyllic!

Beech holiday cottage provides an excellent base for a Scottish holiday and is located in an ideal setting for outdoor pursuits of every kind from hill walking, fishing, cycling or just enjoying the breathtaking scenery. It is close to many local attractions, including Finlarig Castle, the Falls of Dochart, Blair Drummond Safari Park and Balquhidder Glen (Rob Roy's Grave). It is also within easy access of Trossachs National Park, Loch Lomond, and Ben Lawers mountain range.

Accommodation:
This lovely detached cottage sleeps four or five guests in one double and one twin-bedded room, both of which have been recently decorated and finished to a high standard. The sitting/dining room is fitted with a leather sofa, two easy chairs and a dining table and chairs. A lovely feature of this room is the wood burning stove (logs are supplied). A TV, DVD, Video and CD player are provided, along with a selection of films and music. There is also a wide range of books and family board games to keep you entertained. The bathroom has a modern white bathroom suite, with electric shower over the bath.


Just off the main living accomodation, there is a sun porch which will seat two people comfortably. The lounge has french doors leading to the garden which is fenced, making this ideal for small children and dogs. There is an outdoor dining area, which has spectacular, uninterrupted views of the private lochan.


Directions:
Beech Cottage is situated at Wester Lix, approximately 2 miles to the west of Killin.

By Road:
Travelling from Glasgow take the M90 to Stirling then take the A84 for Crainlarich, passing through Callendar. Keep on the A84 past Strathyre and at Lochearnhead take the A85. After approximately 5 miles, you'll come to a sign for Killin and just before the Killin turn-off, take a left at Wester Lix and follow the track for half a mile. Keep on the track, past the first 7 cottages and you'll come to 4 other cottages, Beech Cottage is here.
Travelling from Edinburgh take the M9 to Stirling then take the A84 for Crainlarich passing through Callendar. Follow directions as above.
Travelling from Inverness take the A9 to Perth and follow the signs for Crainlarich and Crieff on the A85, then follow the sign posts to Killin. At the Lix Toll, keep straight on the road for another 500 hundred yards, then take a right at Wester Lix.

By Rail:
The nearest station is Crainlarich 11 miles away. The train leaves Glasgow, Queen Street taking approximately two hours on the Fort William line. A local landmark on the A85 some 500 yards away from the access track to Wester Lix is the Lix Toll Garage

What's included:
Bed linen provided. Heating is electric: electricity meter is full on arrival, thereafter a £1 coin meter. Logs for fire provided. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits on arrival.

Cost. Change-over day is Saturday, check in 3pm, check out 10 am.
Weekend and short breaks can be arranged subject to availability. There is a charge for pets.
