The south west of Scotland is a wonderful unspoilt area which is well known for its golf courses, rugged coastlines, deserted beaches and gardens. Dumfries and Galloway is not only the perfect destination for chilled-out relaxing holidays but it also boasts a range of activities and sports for those seeking a bit more action and adventure.
If you are a walker, the cottage is within a few hundred yards of the Scottish Coastal path, and if you enjoy cycling the area is home to the famous 7 Stanes mountain bike trail. Inland, there is open rolling countryside to explore with moorland hills, lochs and rivers and the Galloway Forest Park, some 150,000 acres of forest with marked trails which are ideal for both trekking and cycling (and it's the only Dark Sky park in the UK).
The warming Gulf Stream means the area is well known for its beautiful gardens including the world-renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. Formal gardens and country parks are to be found throughout the area and Threave Castle is another popular destination for plant lovers. Golfers can enjoy local as well as world famous golf courses within easy access.
There are plenty of interesting places and picturesque towns and villages, castles and ruins to visit. For those wishing to venture further afield, a trip on the ferry to Belfast is another popular outing.

The perfect getaway for those wishing solitude, tranquility, peace and quiet. Little Laight is built to a high specification in a remote location overlooking Loch Ryan, the cottage is well appointed, light, airy, snug and comfortable. Part of the Lochryan estate, Little Laight was an old shepherd's cottage before its rebuild. Surrounded by rolling hillside and adjacent to an SSSI (Special Site of Scientific Interest) with only sheep, deer, cattle and a huge variety of birds as neighbours.
The accommodation is comprised of a master bedroom with 6 foot double bed and ensuite bathroom, and two further twin rooms, which share a bathroom between them with separate access from each. They're all beautifully furnished with stunning curtains and head boards completing the very attractive and comfortable bedrooms. There is also a separate cloakroom and WC. The modern kitchen is gorgeous and very well appointed (a wonderful space to cook in!) - there is a breakfast bar and a dining area at one end and stunning views from all the windows. The light and cosy sitting room is very comfortable and stylishly furnished - an electric wood-burning stove adds to the atmosphere, and a large TV and DVD - if you can tear yourself away from yet more wonderful views!
There is double glazing throughout and under floor heating which is provided whenever possible by the nearby domestic turbine - it's very cosy even if the weather is inclement! The cottage has its own water supply and is all on one floor, with a ramp to the front door for those with limited mobility. Outside there is plenty of storage in the sheds beside the cottage so you can keep your golf clubs, bikes, kayaks or anything else under cover. The cottage boasts stunning views of Loch Ryan, the Mull of Kintyre, Ireland and the beautiful Galloway countryside.
