Holiday accommodation in Scotland

Scottish Tourist Board accommodation Grading

The Scottish Tourist Board assessment is on quality of self-catering accommodation in Scotland, rather than on the size or range of facilities on offer. VisitScotland, previously known as the Scottish Tourist Board, has a star system to assess standards for tourists and visitors to Scotland. 5 star is the top level of excellence. You can view Visit Scotland.com for further tourist board grading information.

The assessment of self-catering holiday accommodation gives an indication of cleanliness, hospitality, service, ambience and accommodation standard. There is a scale of 1-5 Stars, and gives reassurance about the quality you can expect before you arrive at your Scottish holiday accommodation. Many cottages have been graded by the STB, it is not a criteria for being listed on this site, but you may find it helpful and reassuring to note the following;

5 Star self-catering holiday cottage

5 stars - Exceptional, world-class

4 Star self-catering holiday cottage

4 stars - Excellent

3 Star self-catering holiday cottage

3 stars - Very good

2 Star self-catering holiday cottage

2 stars - Good

1 star - Fair, acceptable
