At the west end of the village of St Fillans, Fortrenn overlooks Loch Earn, which is one of the two lochs that is designated by Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park for sporting activities, such as fishing, a watersports centre for water skiing etc and a sailing club. There are amazing loch views from this distinctive villa, affording opportunities to relish the glorious sunsets over the stunning panorama.

Perthshire is the Big Tree County and many visitors come to enjoy the great outdoors. Fortrenn is accessed from a private road with accessible woodland literally on the doorstep. It is dog heaven! For mountain bikers or walkers, a steep climb through the trees leads to a circular route of some eight miles around Glen Tarken, with spectacular sightings of deer and birdlife. Enthusiastic walkers can navigate over the tops to the south shores of Loch Tay. For the more leisurely, the track also leads to a goat path around the back of the village, allowing a round walk past all three pubs and the village shop (with cafe) on the way home.

St Fillans boasts its own very dramatic 9 hole golf course. Not much further afield are Comrie, Crieff and Killin, all with eighteen scenic holes and the world famous Gleneagles courses are only 3/4 of an hour away.

Fortrenn is a marvellous location for accessing the whole of Scotland. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glen Coe and Fort William, Oban, and St Andrews are all about 1 1/2 hours drive away. Stirling and Gleneagles are much closer. The village forms the north-east corner of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The walk to the summit of Ben Vorlich, the nearest Munro, begins on the south shore of the loch.

There are a range of visitor attractions within easy reach. Glenturret Distillery near Crieff is the home of the Famous Grouse Experience; The Crieff Visitor Centre features the history of the town as one of the prime cattle markets of old - the destination for the famous Highland drove roads. Also worth a visit is Drummond Castle with its famous Italianate gardens. Closer to home, near Comrie is the Auchingarroch Wildlife Centre - a great day out for children.

This is a very welcoming family home with quality furnishings and lovely touches such as books and games. It is an ideal place to relax and unwind, and admire the amazing views - perfect for a holiday or short break!

Accommodation:
Fortrenn is an unspoilt stone-built Edwardian villa the design of which was obviously influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement.

The house is entered by a magnificent outer porch into a hallway on the middle floor. Off the hall are the sitting room, kitchen, dining room and staircase leading up and down. The sittingroom has one of the most impressive views in Scotland (particularly if watching osprey fishing immediately in front of you is what impresses!). The room has an open log fire. The kitchen which has an AGA (lit in the winter), electric cooker, combination microwave, dishwasher, large fridge and freezer and is properly equipped for family cooking. The dining room has an open log fire and access to a small balcony perched over the loch.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms; 1 double with en-suite shower, 1 twin and 1 single. Also, a family bathroom with shower over the bath and an additional separate WC. Downstairs is the master suite with a bedroom with a four-poster bed, dressing room, bathroom with traditional bath, separate modern shower and WC.

Outside, the front garden can be accessed directly from the dressing room or down external steps from the kitchen. There is a lawn area with outdoor seating and a patio in front of the wonderful summerhouse. There is a more substantial wild garden area below this with a path descending to road and loch level. The back garden has a good-sized lawn and a substantial woodland area with paths winding through to the disused railway line (great level woodland walking) and the estate road to Glen Tarken or the Goat Path. There is ample parking.

Directions:
Take the A84 from Stirling and turn right in Lochearnhead. After a few houses turn sharp left at the Four Seasons Hotel. Turn off to the right as if to enter the hotel car park but then take the left hand option away from the hotel and almost parallel to the main road. This private road takes you uphill past one other house before you come to Fortrenn on your left. Parking is just past the house on the right.

If coming from the east take the A85 from Perth via Crieff. Drive through the village until you reach the Four Seasons hotel. Then as above.
