This charming 19th century former manse is situated in a pretty walled garden on the Glenlivet estate, in the Cairngorms National Park. It is has been completely renovated in 2004 and now offers the most delightful holiday accommodation - beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished. The location is secluded and very peaceful - perfect for a relaxing Highland holiday.

The owners use this as their own holiday home so have provided every creature comfort and luxury - it has a wonderful intimate atmosphere. There are views from every room - either up or down the glen or onto Cnoc Fergan at the rear. There are working fireplaces in every room (apart from the kitchen and children's bunk room) - so you can have a romantic time in the roll-top bath with the glow of a real fire, or lie in bed watching the flames. All the original Victorian windows are in place and the shutters work - adding to the atmosphere of quality that you get from a sensitive restoration.

The lovely, large enclosed garden has a trampoline, swing and wooden Wendy House - children love staying here. If you want a fully catered holiday - money well spent if the normal cook wants a break too! - then the house's cook/housekeeper will be happy to provide as much help as you want. Her husband can act as a walking guide or arrange shooting or fishing for you - they don't live in the house so if you want to self-cater then you will have total privacy.

There is lots to do and see in the local area: there are castles and distilleries to visit (Dalvrecht is on the Malt Whisky Trail), the nearest beach is 45 minutes and The Landmark Centre at Carrbridge is 30 minutes away. There are lots of wonderful walks from the house on the beautiful Glenlivet Estate - open heather-covered hills, glens and woodlands, tumbling burns and rivers - all idyllic places for picnics too. Located within the Cairngorms National Park, there are lots of other outdoor activities available - fishing, shooting, stalking, skiing at The Lecht, horse riding and golf. This is a truly idyllic house for a perfect highland holiday!

Accommodation:
This spacious and utterly gorgeous house has everything you might look for in an idyllic holiday retreat. On the ground floor is a drawing room with comfortable furniture and a large open fire. The music room (with satellite TV and stereo) and dining room (with antique table seating 8 adults) both have real fires. The large, newly installed farmhouse kitchen has a flagstone floor, a large table with chairs, an Aga (and conventional oven if you aren't keen to cook on an Aga - although once you've tried it you'll be converted!), dishwasher, microwave and large fridge/freezer. There is a useful boot room at the back entrance so there is lots of space for golf clubs, coats, fishing gear etc. The separate WC and utility area has a washing machine and dryer.
Upstairs there are two gorgeous double bedrooms and another lovely double bedroom with an additional single bed. The children's bedroom has 2 lots of bunkbeds (so sleeps 4) - they are 6ft long so small adults can sleep there too if necessary!

There is a shower room with a WC and an amazing bathroom with a roll-top bath in the centre of the room and an open fireplace - a fabulous experience to lie there watching the view or to turn off the lights, light the fire and relax in the glow of the fire.

The house is rented out year round - Sunday to Sunday lets.
Short breaks are welcome at certain times of year. Checking in time is after 4pm and checking out is 11am, but other times will be accommodated if possible.
