Creagmhor is set in superb tranquil countryside less than two miles from the west coast and a beautiful sandy beach. The Isle of Skye is easily reached by a 5 minute ferry crossing (summer only) making this a wonderful base from which to explore the surrounding area. There is an abundance of wildlife including
golden eagles, buzzards, seals and otters. The shell-sand beaches and rocky coves of Sandaig Island are only a short drive away - this is where Gavin Maxwell lived and wrote his books including 'Ring of Bright Water' and a very special place for visitors to spend the day. Although within easy reach of the main route to Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye, Creagmhor is set in a peaceful glen which has preserved its sense of isolation and unspoilt beauty.
The area is a perfect example of dramatic Scottish highland landscape and it is a paradise for those who wish to walk or climb. Several of the surrounding peaks exceed 3000ft and are thus classified as Munros. The area is also rich in history. The ruins of two ancient brochs 'Dun Telve' and 'Dun Trodden' are the best preserved of these structures on the Scottish mainland. There are many visitor attractions in the area. Kyle of Lochalsh, 24 miles away, boasts a swimming pool and leisure centre, glass bottom boat trips and seal viewing trips. Closer by at Shiel Bridge (7 miles) is the opportunity for horse riding. Glenelg itself has a flourishing local community and has always been a haven for writers, painters, musicians and craftspeople. There is a convivial inn which is a focal point and an essential stop during your holiday.
