Evanton is conveniently placed at the eastern end of the Trans-Scotland walk and is on the edge of some of the most spectacular and unspoilt country in the Scottish highlands. You can spend an afternoon following the river up through Glen Glass to Loch Glass and experience the wonderful peace and magnificent landscape. The holiday cottage is only a short distance from the Cromarty Firth, home to a large colony of seals and they can be regularly seen sunning themselves on rocks close to the shoreline. Spectacular views of the Black Isle, Ben Wyvis and the Western Highlands are only short walks away.

For those of you who wish to travel further a field similar areas of great natural beauty and historical interest can be easily reached making Evanton a natural place to base yourself during your holiday. Ben Wyvis is 6 miles away from Evanton, Ullapool 45 miles and you can explore the west coast highlands from John O'Groats 100 miles, Dornoch 20 miles and Inverness 18 miles where there are loads of activities which you would expect from any city in the UK. Evanton is also within easy reach of Loch Ness and the Culloden Battlefield. The area is well resourced with outdoor activities including pony trekking, go-carting, forest walks, Black Rock Gorge (which features in a Harry Potter film) and walking to the famous Fyrish monument. Golf courses are situated nearby and hunting, shooting and fishing are all available locally when in season. Day trips can be taken to see the dolphins, a worthwhile and memorable experience.

You will also be delighted with the amenities available locally and no self catering holiday would be complete without the treat of eating out. In the village of Evanton there are two hotels which offer pub food and in the neighbouring village of Alness there are several pubs and restaurants - ideal for a relaxing evening out. Alternatively it is possible to arrange in advance to have home-made meals provided at the cottage and have an equally relaxing evening in!

Accommodation:
This delightful cottage on the outskirts of the village of Evanton has one double bedroom and is well equipped and well maintained throughout. The kitchen has a microwave for convenience and there is a washing machine/drier. The sittingroom is ideal for relaxing and comes complete with TV, DVD, video and stereo. Outside there is a garden area with garden furniture and a barbeque for those long summer evenings. The owner of the cottage lives next door so is on hand to offer advice on local attractions.

Location:
Follow the A9 from Inverness to Wick, approx 17 miles from Inverness you will approach the Evanton junction, turn left and follow the road through the village, after you leave the 30 mile an hour limit approximately 300 yards turn right signposted Newton, cross the railway bridge and 3 Newton Cottage is situated first left.

What's included:
Heating is included in the rental price. Bed linen is provided and there is a choice of feather or polyester duvet and pillows. A welcome pack will also be in the cottage on arrival. Meals may also be provided if requested in advance.

Cost and availability.
The cottage is rented out year round. Change over is on a Saturday, check out time 10.00 and check in 14.00. Short breaks are available on request.
