Nestling in the heart of a 320 acre organic farm, with panoramic views of the Scottish countryside, this newly refurbished holiday house with
all amenities is perfect for an idyllic country retreat. The house sits beside a wood where you can see resident red squirrels scurrying through the trees, and it is a 5 minute walk to a pond with a bothy (which you are welcome to use) which ducks and swans call home. The woods are full of wildlife in a survey from spring 2006, 61 different species of birds were counted. There is ample walking and cycling on the farm and in the local area and you will find plenty to entertain within a few miles of your front door - Piper Dams golf, restaurants and leisure centre is just 5 miles down the road.
Should you wish to venture further, getting there wont be a problem the challenge will be fitting in the huge array of activities on offer in Scotlands heartlands. The house is ideally situated for forays to Dundee (11 miles), Perth (16 miles), St Andrews (20 miles) and further afield to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Dundee is a modern and vibrant city full of attractions. There is shopping and restaurants galore and theatres, swimming, cinemas, bowling ... as well as lots of history. Captain Scotts Polar research ship, the RSS Discovery is moored in the harbour, detailing his discovery voyage and Dundees connection with maritime history. The Verdant Works is a fascinating industrial museum about the jute trade that was once the mainstay of the citys economy.
Crossing the Tay Bridge will take you to St Andrews, a town renowned for its lovely beaches and golf there are 5 courses and if you wish to follow in the footsteps of world renowned golfers, the Old Course has a public allocation of rounds each day. If golf is your passion there are many local courses, 3 golf courses in Alyth (16 miles) and Blairgowrie (15 miles). The local beaches are second to none in Scotland Fife has five blue flag beaches, and Dundee and Angus, two. These are real sandy beaches unspoiled and interesting whatever the season, great for sunbathing in summer and can be stormy and exciting in the cooler months.
Heading the other way, away from the sea and into the heart of Scotland, will lead you to strikingly beautiful Perthshire where you will find a huge range of activities golf, fishing and field sports, white water rafting, kayaking and paint balling as well as skiing and snowboarding at Glenshee (39 miles) in the winter months. Pitlochry and Dunkeld are also worth visiting smaller than Perth but with spectacular scenery, wonderful walks (Hermitage 25 miles) and the famous Queens View.
After visiting the heart of Scotland and experiencing all its varied activities, you will be thankful to come home to the peace and quiet of Redmyre, relaxing by the fire or sitting on the patio with a cold glass of wine watching the sun go down behind the Sidlaw hills.
