Rose House is an attractive detached stone fronted house situated in a delightful location. Just a few moments walk from the sea it is on the edge of Fife's coastal path in the lovely fishing village of St Monans, in the East Neuk of Fife. It offers the perfect opportunities for a relaxing holiday wandering around the East Neuk either walking along the coastal path or visiting historic places. Newark Castle, the Auld Kirk of St Monans and the Windmill are all situated in the village, and in near proximity there is the historic town of St Andrews, other fishing villages such as Anstruther and the National Trust for Scotland property of Kellie Castle. Slightly further afield there is Falkland Palace, the 18th century country house at Hill of Tarvit and the historic town of Culross.
There are numerous places to visit and things to do in the East Neuk of Fife - something to suit all tastes. For families there is Craigtoun Park by St Andrews, a great adventure playground for children, which has a boating pond and a miniature train and lots of space to run around. Another great attraction is the Deer Centre at Cupar with deer, tractor rides and wild birds. St Andrews is not only the home of golf with the famous Royal and Ancient Golf club it also has many other attractions including the St Andrews Aquarium with a wide variety of sea creatures on display.
There are many beaches very near by - Elie (2 miles) has a fabulous beach and also offers water sports to all abilities. There are also superb beaches in St Andrews, also known for golf where golfers are spoilt for choice. There are also many other top golf courses within easy reach Elie, Crail and Kingsbarns to name but a few - this is also an ideal holiday cottage in Fife for a golf holiday in Scotland. A mile and half to the east of St Monans is Pittenweem which is still very much a working port with its fish market on the quayside. Pittenweem is also renowned for its art galleries and exhibitions. Two miles to the west is Elie with its magnificent beaches. While enjoying an evening drink on the decking at Rose House, you can listen to the waves as you soak up the evening overlooking the shore, prior to a visit to the famous Seafood Restaurant which is a must for fish lovers, situated on the shore in St Monans with outstanding views over the Forth to Bass Rock and East Lothian.
