Set in the Vale of Strathmore in the unspoilt Scottish county of Angus, this is a really charming holiday cottage between Kirriemuir and Blairgowrie. There are six 18 hole golf courses within 10 miles - Rosemount (at Blairgowrie), Alyth, Strathmore, Glenisla, Kirriemuir and Forfar. Skiing at Glenshee is nearby and there is also great fishing and hillwalking. Pitlochry with its excellent theatre is only 40 minutes drive, Perth and Dundee are nearer. Glamis Castle (childhood home of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother) is just a few miles away and is one of Scotland's most fascinating castles. With ne'er a clogged road in sight, in half an hour you can either be beach-combing along sweeps of white sand or climbing in nearby mountains, either way you will be bathed in clean, clear air.
Experience the pre-war shopping feel in the 'Peter Pan' little market town of Kirriemuir, birthplace of J M Barrie. Stroll over cobbled streets to visit the local butcher/fishmonger, ironmonger, baker, a real sweetie shop and an old fashioned barber. The owner lives nearby and is happy to provide local information about off-the-beaten-track places to visit or eat: a renowned tartan shop (not a tourist in sight), bric-a-brac, markets for antiques and food, farm shops and indeed will give you a quick short cut into the swing of local life.
Strathmore is justly famous for its lush farmland growing raspberries, strawberries, cereals and home to Aberdeen Angus cattle. A few miles to the north are a trio of spectacular Angus Glens evocatively named Glenisla, Glenprosen and Glenclova, all wonderful walking country.

Accommodation:
South Cottage is packed full of character and charm. The large sitting room with an open fire, leads out onto a stone flagged terrace equipped with comfortable garden furniture. The inviting glowing red dining room has an open fire, ideal for romantic evenings. The generously equipped kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, leads out to a second sitting area with patio doors opening onto another gravelled terrace.
The cottage has two bedrooms, both with brass and iron bedsteads; one twin, one double. The bathroom has a shower over a roll top bath, many beautiful antique tiles and a special stained glass window.
There are special low rates for couples visiting this romantic cottage.
Location:
Take the A926 from Kirriemuir, go through the village of Westmuir and about 1 mile further on turn left at a small sign saying Kinalty. You will come to a group of farm buildings, and South Cottage is the last one on the left hand side of the road. You can park outside the back door.
From Blairgowrie, take the A926 and go past Alyth to a five way roundabout, then continue on the A926 towards Kirriemuir. Go through Airlie Village, then Craigton of Airlie. Go round some bad bends and the road straightens out. About a quarter of a mile further on you will see a sign pointing to the right which says Kinalty. Take this small side road down the hill. You will come to a group of farm buildings and South Cottage is the last one on the left hand side of the road. You can park outside the back door.
What's included:
Electricity is free of charge but the oil for the heating is charged by meter readings. A starter pack is included for the fires, logs and coal provided at cost on request. Bed line and towels are provided. Pets are charged at �20.00 per pet. Cot and high chair, hairdryer, radio/CD/cassette player, off road parking for 2 cars, BBQ all included.

This special holiday cottage is rented out year round.
Rental periods are generally Saturday-Saturday but this can be flexible. Weekend/short breaks are avialble.
