Old Bankend farmhouse near Stirling was built around the turn of the last century and has remained in the family ever since. Set on the edge of our working farm it also has a private equestrian facility - ideal if you want to take your horse on holiday with you. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside with fantastic views of Stirling Castle and the surrounding hills. This large self-catering house has been recently restored and offers 5 double bedrooms and 2 reception rooms, all with glorious views. Downstairs there are 2 public rooms (one could be an extra bedroom) and a large modern shower room. The sitting room looks directly at Stirling Castle and has an open fire for cosy evenings. The TV room is spacious, bright and sunny with a glorious wood-burning stove: it is closer to the kitchen which has a large dining area with double patio doors leading to
eating/sitting out area which is ideal for barbecuing. Facing south west it gets all the afternoon sun and superb sunsets. There is also a large front garden which captures all the morning sun and is ideal for coffee and relaxation. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs with a family bathroom, and downstairs 2 further bed rooms (1 twin, and the other king size).
This large farmhouse is ideally situated to explore the centre of Scotland. Within easy reach of the main arterial route the A9, it is possible to access a wide range of attractions both locally and further afield. The Trossachs and Loch Lomond are only 20 minutes away and as Scotland's first National Park the area is well woth a visit. This is where the Highlands meet the Lowlands, where the lochs, mountains, rivers and villages hold secrets of history, legend and tradition. It's a place where visitors can enjoy sport, history, adventure or peace and tranquility.
Stirling itself is steeped in history. It is one of the most important cities in Scotland's history and has borne witness to many of the important events of the past, which significantly shaped the country's future. From very early times Stirling was established as a place of importance; the great rock was the obvious choice on which to build a fortress, and the flat lands beneath were the lowest point for a river crossing. Visit Stirling Castle and then wander through the streets of the Old Town to get a real feel for Scotland 's past.
Also close by are a host of local villages, some with well known pubs and restaurants. For the active there is the chance for golfing, fishing, skating, bowling not to mention hill walking. As the farmhouse has a private equestrian facility, why not bring your horse on holiday and enjoy the lovely countryside or train in the 60 x 30 outdoor school.
