Inches is on the edge of the pretty village of Drymen in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Although there are neighbours, Inches is set in one acre of private, secluded garden which bounds a field of horses. The garden is mainly grass with a small wooded area. This wood contains large specimens of Douglas Firs which are part of the designed landscape of what was formerly part of the Duke of Montroses estate. Children love the magical garden. There are rugby posts for the rugby fanatics too. Inches is a five minute walk to the village square where a local pipe band play bagpipes most Thursday evenings of the summer.
In Drymen visitors can play golf on the two golf courses and tennis on the two tennis courts. Guests can also enjoy the leisure pool at the local hotel. Drymen boasts two hotels and two pubs including the Clachan Inn which allegedly is the oldest licensed pub in Scotland.
Loch Lomond is 4 miles away on which there are shingle beaches, boat trips, fishing, sailing and kayaking. There is plenty of walking to suit all levels; up hills, in forestry or a network of local walks from the house. The nearest town is Balloch where there are a multitude of activities including shopping and a Sealife Centre at Lomond Shores. Day trips by car to the cultural centres of Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh are very possible from Inches too.

Accommodation:
Inches is a new house designed and owned by two architects and completed in 2004. It was designed to be sympathetic to the local architectural vernacular and to fit into the village-scape. The architects wanted a lot of light and flowing spaces in their house and this has been fulfilled. The three main public rooms, dining/kitchen, hall and living room face south with access to a large deck and terrace through French doors. The kitchen is well planned and can seat two families of five. The deck and terrace make southerly summer dining a very real option - weather permitting! The living room has a wood burning stove for cosy winter evenings. The large boot/utility room with a drying pulley mean that wet walking gear can dry out ready for the next days activity. There is a TV in the living area and the house is equipped with Sky TV and wireless broadband if you really cant switch off!
The first and second floors are where the generous bedrooms are, with a bathroom on each of the two upper floors. The laundry chute amuses guests but is very useful. Dirty clothes arrive as if by magic on top of the washing machine in the utility room below. Inches is well planned and easy to be a guest in - perfect for a relaxing break in the Trossachs.
