Moorend is set on a beautiful private estate very much in the heart of Scotland. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Perth are all within easy reach and on the doorstep are the Trossachs. Sometimes described as the Highlands in miniature, this fabulous landscape of lochs, forest and hills surrounds the house. This cosy holiday home is within stunning and sheltered countryside of ever changing scenery and colour. ?

It is a perfect base for walking, cycling and generally enjoying outdoor life. You can do all this from the back door or choose to drive short distances to specific locations. Many of our guests are nature enthusiast and walkers. Others who want a base for touring round Scotland enjoy returning to the Aga-warmed kitchen at the end of a long day. The property has a large porch which is ideal for kicking of muddy boots, drying off dogs and getting outdoor gear ready for the next day's adventure. There is plenty parking at the house and a garden to enjoy on warmer days. The estate road is a safe place for kids with bikes and the expanse of places to explore is endless for imaginative minds.

The cottage is a practical home from home where we want people to relax and enjoy the countryside living. The estate offers fishing and game and private stalking can be arranged There are good watersport providers in the area and a plentiful supply of nearby golf courses.

The popular town of Callander is only 6 miles away and has so much to offer. Stirling, 22 miles, has all the shops and services of a major town as well as a historic and dramatic castle and the Wallace Monument.

Accommodation: The accommodation at Moorend is all on one level in this single storey, semi-detached cottage. It is well equipped for your stay and the cottage is extremely well appointed. The traditional fitted kitchen is complete with and Aga cooker and the living room enjoys an open fire. There is a conventional cooker and oven if cooking on the Aga is daunting! There are three bedrooms. The double is a good sized room with views over the garden and woodland. The twin rooms are also good sizes and one has fitted wardrobes. There is a large bathroom with a separate shower room and the convenience of a utility room. The cottage looks out over a mature garden with an ornamental pond with views over woodland and open hill. The estate has an open access policy and cottage guests are welcome to explore the many paths and tracks. Directions: To reach Moorend follow the M8 from either Glasgow or Edinburgh and take the M80/A80 to Stirling. Take the northbound M9 and exit at junction 10 Stirling. Take the A84 west to Callander. In Callander town centre there is a cross roads managed by traffic lights. Take the left turn on the A81 road to Aberfoyle (also sign posted Glasgow). Follow this road over the River Teith bridge until you come to the first roundabout. Take the right hand turn onto the minor road and follow this for 3 miles until you reach the east end of Loch Venacher. Follow the lochside Estate road until you arrive at Invertrossachs Estate east lodge gate (pillars with pineapples on top). Follow this surfaced road for approximately 3 miles. When you reach the original Invertrossachs House on your right the road turns sharply to your left - continue along for a further 300 yards and Moorend Cottage is facing you on your left. NB There are gates on the drive that state "no access to non residents" - please ignore these and carry on. What's included: Wood and heating is included in the rental price and all bed linen and towels are provided.
