Callanish is situated amid the stunning scenery of the west coast of Scotland and is an ideal base for any holiday, whether it be one with something different to do every day or peace and quiet to recharge your batteries.
In the immediate vicinity of the cottage is a sandy beach, only 5 mins walk, rally karting and a huge variety of marked trails for walking and biking. Within 5 miles there is the village of Benderloch, boasting a well stocked licensed grocers, garage, outdoor shop and cafe with excellent home baking. There also several hotels, a sealife sanctuary and pottery.
The town of Oban, a 20 minute drive away, has several supermarkets, a wide variety of shops, cafes, hotels and restaurants and two leisure centres. Other places to visit in the town include the distillery and MacCaigs' Tower. Oban is also a fishing and ferry port where you can take short excursions to see the seals and small local islands as well as accessing the islands of Mull, Iona, Staffa, Colonsay, Coll and Tiree.
Going a bit further afield, the towns of Inveraray with its castle and jail, and Kilmartin which boasts standing stones and an award winning museum are well worth a visit.
For the more adventurous, Glen Coe and Fort William have walking and climbing to satisfy all needs as well as downhill mountain bike tracks, with uplift, of world class standard.
For less energetic days out there are plenty of ruined castles, gardens and cafes to explore.

Accommodation:
Callanish is a homely and comfortable bungalow enjoying wonderful views. On entering the property by the front door you will find yourself in the hall. To the left are 2 twin bedrooms, a double with ensuite and a bathroom with separate shower and bath. Off the hall to the right is a large spacious living room, with comfy seating, TV, DVD, stereo, books and games.
Straight ahead through the hall is the kitchen with all the usual appliances, a separate utility room to the left with washing machine, dryer, freezer and the back door. Through the kitchen to the right is the dining room which continues on to the living room.
The property sits in a large garden and the owner lives in completely separate attached accommodation.
Cottage directions:
On the main trunk road from Glasgow and Edinburgh, turn left at Connel to cross the bridge onto the Fort William road. After 3 miles you will reach the village of Benderloch. Continue to the end of the village, turning left at the primary school, taking the South Shian road. Drive for 3/4 mile along the straight at the end of which is a sharp right hand bend. Callanish is on the right hand side on this bend.
