Summer activities Aviemore is the place to go if you want a skiing holiday in Scotland. There are lots of luxury self catering cottages and houses to rent near Aviemore. It is a thriving tourist resort which offers every type of holiday accommodation and has plenty of cafes, restaurants and gift shops (plenty of tartan souvenirs to buy here!), as well as and ice rink and swimming pool. There is lots to do in Aviemore and the surrounding area apart from skiing and it is a wonderful base for a break throughout the year. The Cairngorm Funicular Mountain Railway goes up the mountain, giving visitors an amazing view of the Cairngorms. At the top of the railway you get out and can look at the Mountain Exhibition and visit the cafe.

The nearby Kincraig Highland Wildlife Park is very popular with children, as well as adults - it houses animals that used to roam free in the Highlands (such as wolves) in enormous pens in a natural setting (in fact you often have to look hard to see them!). Kinguisse, Kincraig and Carrbridge are other places where you might want to rent quality holiday houses in Aviemore area.
