This is a gorgeous self-catering house in Achnandarach, a small hamlet just outside Plockton and has spectacular views over the west coast to the Isle of Skye and Raasay. The house is set in a large garden and there are many woodland walks from the doorstep and a sea loch just 2 minutes away. There is so much to do in this part of Scotland that you will be spoilt for choice.
Nearby Plockton is a picturesque, small village on the shores of Loch Carron. It sits on a point (“ploc”) with the Applecross Peninsula to the north and the Isle of Skye to the west. Plocton has a mild climate - even palm trees grow here! - which adds to the popularity of the region for holidays. Plockton village has many small shops, galleries and fabulous eating places. The TV series 'Hamish Macbeth' which starred Robert Carlyle, was filmed in Plockton so you may recognise it.
There are many great places to eat out nearby, with especially good fresh fish and seafood so if you don't want to cook on your self-catering holiday then you will have a great variety of pubs and restaurants to choose from - the local Plocton Hotel also offers excellent food. A popular day-trip is to take a boat trip out to see the seals (and perhaps whales and dolphins too): walking and local sandy beaches are fantastic. The rare bread farm is a popular attraction, particularly children who love the llamas, ponies, sheep and pigs. There are lots of places to visit nearby - Eilean Donan Castle (probably the most photographed castle in Scotland!), Glenelg village with the Glenelg Brochs, or take a day trip to Skye by ferry and explore this beautiful island. This is an idyllic place for a Scottish holiday - lovely accommodation, very relaxing, beautiful countryside and the most perfect views - you won't want to leave!
