Only 12 miles from the Highland capital of Inverness, Muir of Ord is an ideal base from which to explore the sights of the Scottish Highlands. Its ease of access by air, road and rail makes Muir of Ord easily reached, and its closeness to the trunk routes make it an excellent centre from which to explore the whole north of Scotland. Originally an important staging post for cattle drovers, the village is now a little more peaceful!

Inland from Muir of Ord are some of Scotland’s most scenic glens and straths – Glen Affric is a famous beauty spot. There is an abundance of interesting fauna and flora not only in the glens but also in the Beauly Firth making the area popular with wild life enthusiasts, bird watchers and botanists as well as walkers and cyclists.

A day out can take you to John O'Groats in the north or Strathspey and the Cairngorms in the south, to the West Coast and the Isle of Skye in the west or Elgin in the east. The Black Isle is well worth visiting to see the Wildlife Park, historic Cromarty and the dolphins in the Moray Firth. You can also take a short boat ride from Cromarty to Nigg. Only 17 miles to the south is the Loch Ness Visitor Centre at Drumadrochit, no visit to the area is complete without seeing Loch Ness, the stunning Urquhart Castle and perhaps catching a glimpse of Nessie herself!

If you need a little bit of a “city fix” then Inverness is close at hand. In addition to the shops, pubs, restaurants and castle there are also interesting events throughout the year including Highland Games and the Inverness Tattoo. Lochaber is close to the Glen Ord Distillery which is open daily for guided tours and a wee dram!

Accommodation:
Lochaber is a spacious bungalow set within the village of Muir of Ord. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and just 13 miles north of Inverness it is an ideal location for a holiday in the Highlands. The property has been recently re-decorated throughout and has all new floor coverings.

The lovely sitting room has an open fire and a large bay window. The kitchen/diner has been newly fitted and has a washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer as well as everything else you will need to cook on your self-catering holiday! There are 3 bedrooms, one double with fitted wardrobes and 2 twins - all have comfortable beds and all linen is provided. The bathroom has a bath and electric shower and also a heated towel rail.

Outside there is a large, enclosed private garden with garden furniture and a barbeque for relaxing and enjoying the sunny weather. There is also a garage which is suitable for either one car or 4 motorcycles.

Directions:
From Inverness follow the dual carriageway north to the Tore roundabout, take 1st exit signposted to Muir of Ord / Beauly. Travel for approx 7 miles until reaching Muir of Ord village. On approaching, the primary school is on the left and Lochaber is across the road on the right.

Lochaber is rented out throughout the year. Change over day is Saturday, check in after 2pm and check out before 10am.
