Perthshire houses.

Achnahanat is a traditional farmhouse situated overlooking one of the best salmon rivers in Scotland. In the heart of the highlands and on the western fringe of the Dornoch Firth National Scenic Area, it is ideally placed to explore east, west and far north coasts. Whether you want an active break, walking, biking and exploring, or are interested in wildlife, you will be spoilt for choice. Close enough to explore the amazing flat lands of the Flow Country in Caithness and Sutherland, one of Europe's last great wild places, the house is only a few miles away from Shin Falls and the Alladale Estate (BBC The Real Monarch of the Glen). Not surprisingly, wildlife abounds and you might see dolphins, seals, whales, eagles, deer and more.

The croft is a lovely place to relax, with hundreds of books and the opportunity to either eat out at some very good cafes and restaurants, or enjoy cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. If heritage is your thing, there are a number of grand houses and ruined castles to explore, as well as the exciting new Culloden Battlefield visitor centre and exhibition. This part of Sutherland is surrounded with great walks; from easy strolls along the beach to longer walks through the woods or challenging scrambles up Munroes and Corbetts.

Situated in a tranquil backwater, this relaxed highland holiday home is a calm retreat from the hurly burly of the modern world.

Fruachan Cottage is located on a private highland estate extending to 27,200 acres set within breath taking scenery along the banks of Loch Shin. The estate is located within the county of Sutherland in the north of Scotland and lies north west of the small, picturesque, rural village of Lairg. Holidaying at Sallachy Estate provides the ideal location to enjoy the beauty and the tranquility of the Scottish Highlands, an ideal holiday destination for all.

Sutherland offers the tourist many activities to make your stay an unforgettable experience, many of the activities can be carried out within the estate. The land of the estate rises from the shores of Loch Shin, an excellent fishing loch which stretches for 23 miles into the rugged heart of west Sutherland. The estate is home to a variety of wildlife, including otters, pine martins, wild cats, red, roe and sika deer, red and black throated divers, ospreys, golden eagle, hen harrier, peregrine and red grouse. There are a number of secluded mountain lochs with wild brown trout for fishing as well as fishing on Loch Shin. Also by prior arrangement there is Red deer and Sika for stalking during the season.

Due to its location in central Sutherland, Sallachy Estate is a great base for touring the north of Scotland: it's less than a 2 hours beautiful drive to the magnificent cliffs and beaches of the far north coast of Scotland. Other attractions in the area include 6 golf courses, one of which is a championship course at Royal Dornoch, 4 local whisky distilleries (including the well known Glenmorangie of Tain), ancient Dunrobin Castle, numerous brochs (iron age structures), pony trekking and breathtaking beaches.
