Iona Cottage is set on the sea front in beautiful National Trust gardens only 3 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh. The gardens have an atmosphere of calm and quiet about them and they stand as a wonderful example of horticultural achievement in what could be considered quite challenging terrain.

The surrounding area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts with a wide range of activities on offer including hill walking, horse riding, swimming, cycling, canoeing, glass bottom boat tours, bird watching and fishing. There is also plenty to see with the most photographed castle in Scotland, Eilean Donan, only a few miles away. The scenic village of Plockton is definitely worth a visit for its Cabbage trees, ice cream and fish and chips! Just be sure to avoid the cattle that roam free on the way there!

Wildlife is in abundance and the rugged and unspoilt coastline is a good place to see otters. Overall, this is a visually spectacular and wild area with the famous mountains, the Five Sisters of Kintail as a backdrop. The Skye Bridge is only 3 miles from the property and a visit to the Isle of Skye is a must. There you will experience the wonderful scenery from the jagged Cullin ridge to the soft white sandy beaches, discover some of the rich culture and history and for gourmets, the highly awarded Three Chimneys Restaurant is situated on the shore of Loch Dunvegan at Colbost in the north west corner of Skye. Also, Lady Claire MacDonald's Kinloch Lodge is only 15 minutes from the Skye Bridge so you are spoilt for choice for great places to eat!
