Fort William, Highlands

|
Lone Pine Lodge is an extremely comfortable American log cabin situated in an elevated position on an organic farm with some of the best views of Ben Nevis and the Nevis Range mountains. The lodge sleeps up to 7 persons in great comfort: it is modern and well equipped and has the most amazing panoramic views.
Situated 3 miles from Fort William, this luxury log cabin is in the heart of the country with walks up onto the hill behind and down to the river Lochy on the same 500 acre farm. Horse riding and fly fishing are available to guests - there is a one hour hack available every morning for those that can ride, and fly fishing and tuition can be arranged for the fisherman on one of the three trout lochs. There are a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants in a 3 mile radius around Fort William which is known as the outdoor capital of Scotland. For mountain bike enthusiasts Lone Pine Cottage is the nearest self catering accommodation to the Nevis Range where the world downhill mountain bike championships were held in 2007. You can bike up to the many trails in Leanachan forest and if staying her in winter, the Nevis Range has the longest downhill skiing facility in Scotland. The snow-capped mountain peaks look superb from the comfort of the lodge and Fort William is a Mecca for hill walkers and climbers.
There is beautiful Glen Nevis only 3 miles away and spectacular hill walks in Glencoe, approximately 20 miles. Neptune's Staircase is only 3 miles away as is the canal system linking the west coast to the east coast through the Great Glen including Loch Lochy and Loch Ness. You are ideally placed for touring the Highlands; either south to the busy port of Oban and the mountains of Glencoe, west out to Glenfinnan of Bonnie Prince Charlie fame, the white sands of Arisaig and the harbour of Mallaig, north west to Eilean Donan Castle and Skye, north east to Lochness and Inverness and east to Aviemore and the Rothiemurchas estate. There is plenty to see in this area of outstanding natural beauty.
Back on the farm there are Highland cattle, cheviot sheep and some Highland ponies and there is a farm shop within 1 mile for your organic supplies. The river Lochy borders the farm for three miles and you are welcome to walk along the paths beside the river and enjoy the scenery and fresh Highland air. This is an idyllic place to stay near Fort William for an active or relaxing holiday in Scotland!
