This wing of a 16th century castle offers really delightful 5 star (graded by Visit Scotland) holiday accommodation for 4 guests, and there is a pretty courtyard garden for their exclusive use. This is a very historic house - as the shot-holes show evidence - and was part of the Earl of Seafield's estate for over 300 years. It has been sympathetically restored, retaining architectural features and details, and now has every modern comfort. A special feature is the four poster bed in the main bedroom - very romantic!

The north east of Scotland and the Moray coast is a great holiday location. Fordyce Castle is just over a mile from a safe, sandy beach - and there are lots of other unspoilt beaches nearby. Nearby Portsoy, with its 17th century harbour, is a very pretty conservation village with an annual Traditional Boat Festival, good shops and great places to eat. Banff has finely restored 18th century buildings and is close to Duff House - a magnificent Adam mansion house which displays paintings from the National Gallery of Scotland. There are lots of excellent golf courses in the area and superb fishing on the rivers Spey and Deveron. Wildlife is abundant: you can see ospreys, golden eagles, dolphins and deer in the local area. Fabulous walks along the cliffs are delightful, with small smugglers coves, village pubs and wide empty beaches below the cliffs. The north east corner of Scotland also has a wealth of castles and distilleries to visit - Speyside is home to over half of Scotland's distilleries and a visit to at least one is a must if you are staying here!
