Embo is a small former fishing village on the east coast of Sutherland. The Hideaway is situated just yards from the beautiful Embo beach and the cottage enjoys spectacular views across the Dornoch Firth to the north, east and south. Embo is only 3 miles up the coast from the historic highland town of Dornoch with its ancient cathedral, world class golf course and lovely selection of restaurants and shops.

In addition to the glorious scenery and wildlife Embo itself is home to a caravan park with good facilities including a children's play park, crazy golf, restaurant, bar, take away, tennis courts and indoor swimming pool. A short drive 2 miles to the north of the cottage takes you to the picturesque Loch Fleet which is a national nature reserve and haven for bird watchers. A little further on again and you will reach Golspie and the spectacular Dunrobin Castle with beautiful grounds and woodland walks. Nearby there are also distilleries including the famous Glenmorangie at Tain. The area has several wonderful potteries to visit and excellent restaurants serving good local produce.

This spectacular coastline has pretty seaside villages and miles and miles of stunning scenery to lose yourself in. A wonderful holiday destination.

Accommodation:
The Hideaway is 'upside down' in layout to take advantage of the spectacular sea views. Upstairs there is a large well equipped kitchen/breakfast room and also a large sitting room with TV, DVD, video and CD player and a dining table. Downstairs there are 2 bedrooms - one twin and one double. With advance notice the 'zip and lock' style beds may be arranged as super-king or twin beds to suit requirements. There is a second sitting area downstairs with a sofa bed and TV/DVD. Downstairs there is a bathroom with bath and shower over the top and a second shower room with walk in shower.

Outside there is a driveway for cars and a lockable garage, which guests are welcome to use if they wish for cars or sports equipment such as bikes or canoes etc. A handy outdoor tap is available to clean off sandy feet/paws after a walk on the beach and there is a small garden with washing line and bench. The garage also houses garden furniture and a barbecue which guests are welcome to use in the good weather.

Directions:
Embo is about 3 miles outside Dornoch. From the south, you follow the A9 north of Inverness crossing the Moray Firth, Cromarty Firth and the Dornoch Firth all the way to the Dornoch turn off (about an hour's drive). Then follow the road right into the centre of Dornoch (passing the cathedral on your left and the Castle Hotel on your right). At the T junction, turn left and follow the road out of Dornoch for about 3 miles (some single track road with passing places). Embo is signposted off this road to the right. Just after the sign post for the village turn left into Station Road. Follow this for a few hundred yards until it starts to veer right at which point you go straight on to Gate Street. The Hideaway is at the bottom of the road - second house up from the sea. You can park on the drive in front of the garage (opposite the front of the house).

What's included:
Heating is included in the price. Bed linen and towels are provided.
Pets are an additional charge by special arrangement with the owner.

Cost and availability.
The Hideaway is rented out throughout the year.
Change over day is Saturday: check in after 4pm, guests must leave by 10am on day of departure.
Winter short breaks are available by arrangement, minimum 3 night stay.
