The Lobster Pot Crail, Fife |
|
Crail is a particularly picturesque fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife. Its cobbled streets tumble down to the miniature harbour, sheltered by cliffs and surrounded by fishermen’s cottages. Attractions include St Mary's Church, Crail Museum, Heritage Centre and Crail Pottery. The village has a choice of coffee shops and restaurants many of which serve delicious fresh seafood.
Fife is an ideal holiday destination with a wide range of activities on offer. There are many wonderful golf courses ranging from the famous championship courses at St Andrews to the local courses along the coast - Crail itself boasts two of the best. The Fife Coastal Path runs through Crail and is perfect for walkers and birdwatchers. There are award winning beaches nearby and also opportunities for boat trips, cycling, fishing and watersports. Neighbouring Anstruther has a new marina as well as Scotland’s best fish and chip shop - ideal when on a self-catering holiday!
Fife is rich in history with castles, museums, National Trust properties and churches. The ancient town of St Andrews, “Home of Golf”, is well worth a visit and each of the fishing villages offer something special. Pitenweem still has an active fishing fleet as well as being home to a very popular annual arts festival.
Whether you are looking for an action packed break or would prefer to sit on a harbour wall and watch the boats go by, the East Neuk of Fife is the perfect place for you.
