Anstruther is the central village in the East Neuk of Fife. Famous for the picturesque fishing villages, sandy beaches, coastal walks and a whole range of sporting activities, particularly golf, walking and watersports. There are also many indoor tourist attractions from award-winning museums and art galleries and a whole range of superb coffee shops and eating places. The old university town of St Andrews with its world famous golf courses is only nine miles away and there are many other golf courses in the area - you are spoilt for choice!

Anstruther is a friendly and hospitable village. During the summer there are many local events including art exhibitions, a music festival and the annual Lifeboat Gala. The Fisheries Museum is well worth a visit giving an insight into the history of the fishing industry. Whilst the harbour is no longer used as intensively for fishing there are still lots of boats about. You can take a boat trip to the Isle of May which is 4 miles off the coast and is both a nature reserve and a bird sanctuary.

Kellie Castle, which is run by the National Trust for Scotland, has one of the loveliest gardens in Fife and is a popular tourist attraction. Scotland's Secret Bunker is a fascinating place to visit - hidden under an innocent looking farmhouse the secret accommodation would have been the nerve centre of Scotland in the event of nuclear war.

The Fife Coastal Path runs through Anstruther and stretches for a total of 150km, ideal for either a gentle stroll or a more serious hike. It is possible to book tuition at the sailing club and the outdoor activities centre offers abseiling, canoeing and archery. The local golf course which overlooks the sea is ideal for an energetic game of golf. For those wanting to relax and unwind, Anstruther's narrow winding streets are home to cosy pubs and delightful tearooms as well as award winning restaurants and the best fish and chip shop in Britain!
