Erraid and Hermitray
Kilcamb Cottages, Strontian, Ardnamurchan, Argyll |
|
These two lovely cottages are set in 8 acres of glorious landscaped and
wooded grounds by the side of Loch Sunart, the stunningly beautiful sea
loch which forms the southern boundary of the Ardnamurchan
peninsula. They face south-east over Loch Sunart to the hills of Morvern.
These superb cottages are extremely well appointed, with many
extras - eg use of bicycles, a dingy and Canadian canoe. You can even
join the owners on their fishing boat on the loch and catch prawns or squat
lobsters - great fun and delicious on the barbeque!
Kilcamb Cottages are in an idyllic situation on the edge of the charming
village of Strontian with its hotels, pub, shops, post office and tourist
office all within walking distance.
There is lots to do and see in the local area - empty beaches, dolphin
and whale spotting boat trips, walking, climbing, diving, riding and the
most breathtaking mountain and coastal scenery.
Kilcamb Cottages are reached by taking the Corran Ferry from Nether
Lochaber (8 miles south of Fort William) to Ardgour - this is a 3 minute
crossing but a lovely way to arrive to your holiday cottage.
Ben Nevis and Glencoe are nearby if you want to ski or mountain climb.
The lighthouse on the point of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula is the most
westerly point on the UK mainland and is designed in an Egyptian style - a very
romantic setting with views towards the Hebrides and the Small Isles and a great place to
visit from the cottages. Mull is easy to visit with a short ferry
crossing so you can visit Tobermoray - an essential trip if you are on holiday
here with children as it is the 'real' Balamory! Nearby 'The Road to the
Isles' leads to Mallaig and the ferry to Skye and the Hebrides.
The two cottages are identical in layout and design, one being the
mirror image of the other, though Hermitray has a sofa bed so can sleep
6.
